Avril Lavigne's Hello Kitty Receives Bad Reviews from Press

Avril Lavigne's new music video, Hello Kitty, was deleted from YouTube and Billboard said that it is 'an embarrassment in any language'.

Avril Lavigne's new song, Hello Kitty, tells a story about how the pop-rock singer loves all things Japanese.

The video is very saturated, showing us Avril Lavigne parading around what looks like a city in Japan with 4 emotionless, red-headed identical Asian women (or robot women). The singer was seen around the city taking one photograph, eating sushi, clumsily playing guitar, doing a lot of waving and just roaming around while the 4 robotical women danced.

watch the video here:

The song started with her saying thank you and cute in Japanese. The song is very upbeat. It's a mixture of rock guitar strum, bass drums, and a lot of electronic synth sounds. It has a break down and drop in the chorus along with her saying "Hello Kitty, you're so pretty". In addition to that, there are a lot of her stuttering the word "kawaii". It has the beat and drop like a typical dance song. The lyrics basically has no deeper meaning than what it is said. The song is catchy and not horrible even though it does not show Avril Lavigne's musical personality.

The singer said that the song has a double meaning, "It's flirtatious and somewhat sexual, but it's genuinely my love for Hello Kitty as well".

What do you think about Hello Kitty and its music video? Tell us in the comment section below!

'I Blame Myself' - Sky Ferreira

Sky Ferreira is a model, actress and singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. She started her music career by posting her original song on MySpace and was discovered by a label. Unfortunately, her early music career was not smooth as she had troubles with her record label.

Sky Ferreira's name is now featured a lot more in the media because she is the featured opening act for Miley Cyrus' Bangerz tour which started on February 2014.

Ferreira just released a new EP this year, Night Time, My Time, with the newest single, I Blame Myself.

The newest hit single sounds very electropop and synth pop-like. Sky Ferreira's vocal is quite unique and definitely sounds like indie pop singer. However, her vocal is lighter and a little bit thinner. The beat of the song is fairly laid back, combining a little bit of pop and a little bit of R&B. Even though I Blame Myself is an electropop song, it is probably not one that you would rave to in a club. The song feels more appropriate to sing along and dance to with some of your friends in a night in. The song also leaves a lot of room to be remixed and surely in a couple of weeks or month, some DJ would come up with a remixed version that will be more 'club' like.

Verdict:
Not a personal favorite. It was all good and in moderation but nothing really sparks. However, it is a catchy song with a catchy riff and the lyrics are great; it tells a story and it teaches a lesson.

Tell me in the comments below on what you think about the song!

In Memory of Kurt Cobain

This month, April 2014, is the month in which we mourn the death of one of the music legend, Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994).

Kurt Cobain was the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter from a legendary band, Nirvana. He became  an active musician in 1987 even though he has always had a huge interest in music since he was very young. Cobain grew up listening to The Beatles and one of his relative states that he was able to sing Hey Jude by the age of 2.

Kurt Cobain with Nirvana gained success and fame fairly quickly when their first single, Smells Like Teen Spirit, received positive reviews. The band still continues to lead the alternative rock and grunge scene until today.

Unfortunately, Cobain passed away in such a young age, leaving behind his wife, Courtney Love, and daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. But more importantly, Cobain left us with his music, his legacy, that will forever live and remind us all of how great of a musician he was.

In memory of Kurt Cobain, Billboard released 10 unseen photographs of him taken by Charles Peterson.

Rest in Peace, Kurt Donald Cobain. May your legacy live forever.

Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience Australia Tour Dates

Justin Timberlake is coming to Australia after 7 years!

Justin Timberlake was topping the chart again late last year and keep coming up with new hit singles from the new album: 20/20 Experience and 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2. We have heard quite a selection from his album from the R & B with a hip-hop twist like Suit and Tie or Take Back The Night, blues with a little bit of country on Drink You Away, to the classic pop such as Mirrors and Not A Bad Thing.

Justin Timberlake is coming back to Australia this spring, on September to October this year for The 20/20 Experience World Tour. The ticket sale went live early in March and went sold out after a week in all venue! Lucky for us, they added extra shows to all cities (Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne) and the tickets are all still on sale.

So far, 20/20 Experience has gotten mixed review from the big critics. Justin Timberlake (and Timbaland) is definitely putting new elements in his new album compared to FutureSex/LoveSounds. The songs are on average 5 minutes long and most of them are heavier than his previous works. The 2 previous album are light and great for dancing at all times.

20/20 Experience (Complete Experience) has a lot more substance. Sometimes you just have to sit down and listen to all different sounds that he blends in into one, the unresolved chords, the . Or just dance, some of the songs are really great to dance to! (some of personal favourite are: Murder, Take Back The Night and That Girl).
